High Speed Wire Cutting Needs High Efficiency Filtration

Izar Herramientas de Amorebieta S.A.L offers a carbide K30F+XTIALN end mill with a variable helix referenced 9406. End mills can suffer vibrations during machining and on occasions in which fast feed milling inserts the metal chippings are not dislodged correctly. tungsten carbide inserts Therefore, they can cause micro-breakages in the cutting edge. According to the

company, the HV IzarTool end mills virtually eliminate these vibrations during machining and the dislodgement of shavings is thus improved. This is said to yield

enhanced finishing and increases its advance by about 40 to 50 percent.

For optimum working conditions, the milling height must be 1.5 times the diameter of the end mill.

Sandvik Coromant Launches New Range of Solid End Mills

Fives Giddings & Lewis introduces a new line of traveling-column, horizontal boring mills (HBMs) said to offer high accuracy and cutting capacity, moving the column in the Z-axis and the tables in the X-axis. Engineered for flat-floor installation, the first models of the machine are configured with a 10,000-kg (22,000 lbs) capacity, 1,250 × 1,400 mm (49.2" × 55.1") contouring rotary table. Optional 1,400 × 1,800 mm (55.1" × 70.9") tables are also available. The RT 130 and RT 155 versions feature 130 or 155 mm (5.1" or 6.1") diameter gear-driven spindles available with power as high as 45 Shoulder Milling Inserts kW (60 hp) and torque of 3,380 Nm (2,493 foot-pounds).

The machines feature an electronically counterbalanced Y-axis headstock with side-hung headstock design for improved visibility and access for the operator. The spindle snout reaches over the table for rigid cutting without extension and, with spindle travel, extends well beyond center. In addition, the spindle can reach below table top to probe for location on the table or a particular feature. The zero-backlash rotary table is powered by two independent motors and pinion drives that are tensioned against each other to compensate for any lost motion.

Heavy-duty linear ways utilize roller bearing carriages that ride on hardened and ground guideways. This rigid, low-friction system is designed to support high loads and fast rapid traverse speeds. Linear ways are said to facilitate better true positioning and contouring accuracy by eliminating stick-slip and thermal growth. They also require less lubrication, thus reducing coolant contamination, says the company. Standard XYZ travels are 2,000 × 1,5TCMT Insert 00 × 1,600 mm (78.7" × 59.1" × 63") with W-axis spindle travel of 750 mm (29.5"). An integral table-mounted pan helps contain chips and coolant.

Heavy Duty, High Precision CNC Centers

Sandvik Coromant introduces its CoroBore rough-boring tools, which are designed to address vibration, chip breaking and process security while Carbide Turning Inserts delivering high productivity. The tools are available in single, twin and triple edge. The tools are said to offer high performance in ISO P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (nonferrous), S (heat-resistant super alloy and titanium) and ISO H (hardened steel).

To support these tools, the company has also introduced CoroBore 111 four-edged inserts, which are designed to provide optimized grade selection, good chip-formation qualities and increased tool life.

The CoroBore BR20 twin-edge tool has a differential pitch to reduce pitch vibration and enable use at longer overhangs and larger cut depths. It enables built-in step-boring without the need for an extra shim, and coolant nozzles which handle coolant pressure ranging to 70 bar (1,015 psi) to evacuate chips. The BR20 is available with vibration-damping Carbide Milling Inserts Silent Tools technology for long overhangs or where additional stability is needed, and is said to increase cut depth while maintaining security. According to the company, the BR20 can increase overhang by 30 percent compared to its DuoBore tool and tool life by 75 percent.

The single-edge BR10 is said to be ideal for back boring with its back-boring slide and cover. The three-edge BR30 has a short, rigid design and differential pitch for high productivity and low vibration.

These tools can be combined with the company’s Capto and EG modular systems for flexibility. Each solution is available separately or as part of a complete tool assembly kit.

Vertical Lathe Series Turns Large Parts

Heule Precision Tools’ BSF tool for automated, high-volume back-spotfacing and counterboring enables a counterbore ratio of 2.3×D. The tool is suitable for diameters ranging from 6.5 to 20 mm and avoids the need to turn over the workpiece. Since the machining is done from the same side as the bore is drilled, it is also possible to apply spot faces or counterbores in areas that are difficult to access, such as bores between the forks of yokes or screw-head countersinks. The tool can cut aluminum, high-grade steel, Inconel and titanium, and its components are designed for ease of replacement in the case of wear. Designed for use on a machine VBMT Insert equipped with internal coolant of approximately 20-bar working pressure, Carbide Inserts the blade unfolds by activating the spindle with an initial rpm and by the gravity of its own weight, and is folded back on demand with an impulse of the internal coolant.
